The gold bit is interesting. Reminds me of a claim someone made that only 5% of jobs actually serves human needs, with the remaining mostly serving commerce and social control.

Alas, not at all surprised about the other env NGO and Fallon NAS expansion. Far too many big env NGOs are just big business shamelessly making $$$$ by selling the idea of “conservation” to the public. They and FED, State & Local GOV regulatory agencies don’t want to make problems by stopping bad projects - the current buzzword for “selling out” is “collaboration” and when they do, they sure do loudly crow about how they saved the animals while helping the project get implemented as proposed.

Heard that there is now major interest in “mining” lithium from the Salton Sea, including significant purchases of land around the Sea by some electric car manufacturing companies and big investors

Keep up the good work. You can be sure those agencies, companies, and people who want to destroy the environment know your name and are afraid of you.
